Britain’s first purpose built public Observatory atop Balgay Hill is one of my favourite subjects to paint. This view of the building was a new angle for me as the Observatory is usually obscured by trees. This image is of the building viewed from Lochee park on an early spring afternoon just before dusk. The bright sky as the sun was setting highlighted its dome through the still bare trees and the bright green colour of the football pitch contrasted beautifully with the colours on the hill.
