On an evenings stroll down Dundee’s Brook St, I was intrigued by the cowels (air vents) on the roof of the dilapidated & derelict mill. Their unusual shape offering a sharp contrast with the plain brick wall reminded me of the temples & palaces found in Vietnam or Thailand. I thought it remarkable that a mere industrial feature should be accompanied by such a beautiful design. The positioning of the cowels directs the viewer towards “The Law” making for an interesting iconic sky line.
